The town...
Sedona, Arizona, USA is a small town with a population of about 15,000
nestled in the mountains of central Arizona approximately one hundred miles north of
Phoenix. The breathtaking beauty of Sedona and its reputation for being a spiritual center
attract hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the globe...whether spiritual
seekers, artists, writers...or simply tourists interested in seeing and enjoying one of
the most beautiful places in the world!
Red Rock Country...
The Sedona area is called Red Rock Country...it is a magical,
magnificent, energetic area with high concentrations of iron oxide (yes..that's rust which
creates the red color) plus extraordinary concentrations of earth energies in the form of
ley lines and vortices. Sedona is truly one of Mother Earth's unique power places! It is
known worldwide for the splendor of its red rock formations and monoliths that contrast so
beautifully with the lush green forest of pine, juniper and cypress. Although located in
the desert region of the southwestern United States, the Sedona area is not a stark desert
environment. The area is blessed with a beautiful creek (called Oak Creek) which flows
year-round and nourishes the region. Oak Creek even winds through parts of the town
creating beautiful creekside settings for many cafes, restaurants and hotels. Sedona has a
moderate climate...truly a four-seasons paradise. With its gorgeous Oak Creek Canyon and
the surrounding Coconino National Forest, it is often said that Sedona should be the
center of a National Park. It was recently named "The #1 most beautiful spot in
America" by USA Weekend and is an unbelievable place for exploring nature and
supporting personal renewal. The Sedona area is criss-crossed with hundreds of miles of the
most beautiful hiking trails imaginable.
More about Sedona's unique power spots...
The Sedona area is filled with vortex power spots that are easily
recognized and felt by sensitive people. These vortices (in Sedona, they are usually
called vortexes) are thought to be places of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
healing as well as locations for expanding consciousness and connecting to the higher realms.
The four major and best known vortexes in and around Sedona are Bell Rock,
Cathedral Rock (shown above in photo), Airport Mesa and Boynton
Canyon. Books on the subject describe these kinds of concentrated earth energy
power spots as having "electric" qualities (usually related to the masculine) or
"magnetic" (for the feminine) or a balanced combination of both electric and
magnetic. Bell Rock and Airport Mesa vortexes are considered electric, Cathedral Rock is
considered magnetic and Boynton Canyon is considered balanced...with both electric and
magnetic energies present.
